# Set up your workshop folder

Use the Codex desktop app for the hands-on exercises. Sign in with your own account and follow the tutor's model selection. The exercises assume students have a Go plan; the actual tools and account access must be checked in your app.

## 1. Extract and open

Extract `Liverpool-Workshop-Student-Pack-v1.zip`, then add its `Liverpool_Workshop_Student_Pack` folder to Codex as a local project. Keep these items together:

```text
Liverpool_Workshop_Student_Pack/
  START_HERE.md
  SETUP.md
  PROJECT.md
  .agents/skills/
    convoai-exploration-2d/
    convoai-exploration-3d/
  prompts/
  inputs/
  outputs/
```

Each skill folder contains `SKILL.md`, references, a manifest template and UI metadata. Copying only `SKILL.md` would leave out required resources.

## 2. Check the skills in Codex

Paste `prompts/00-check-setup.txt` into a new chat in this folder. Ask Codex to read the two exact skill paths and report what is available. The exercise prompts explicitly name the relevant skill and its file path.

Codex discovers local skills in `.agents/skills`. If a new skill does not appear, restart the app and reopen this project. See the [official skills documentation](https://learn.chatgpt.com/docs/build-skills).

To use these skills in another project, copy the two complete folders into that project's `.agents/skills/` directory. If a folder with the same name already exists, compare it first and keep a backup before replacing anything.

## 3. Check the actual tools

- **Exercise 1:** an image-generation or image-editing capability available in the actual Codex chat. Reading an image alone is not image generation.
- **Exercises 2–3:** Rhino, a valid licence and the live Codex-to-Rhino connection configured with the tutor. Use a new, empty workshop document. The setup check must be able to read the actual document through that connection.
- **Blender:** instructor demonstration. This pack does not require students to install Blender.

A skill describes the workflow. It does not create the image tool or the Rhino connection. Do not download an unfamiliar connector, guess a server address, or paste API keys into a prompt. Show the tutor any missing capability.

## 4. Follow the exercise prompts

Use the supplied settings for your first attempt. The prompts request one round, preserve inputs and save results under `outputs/`. Keep the current model selection and report its visible name only if the app exposes it. A previous CLI test is not a check of your desktop setup.

## If something is missing

- **Skill not found:** confirm you opened the extracted folder, including `.agents/skills`, then restart Codex. The prompt also provides the exact `SKILL.md` path.
- **Image generation unavailable:** keep the analysis and tell the tutor. An analysis-only result is not a completed image exercise.
- **Rhino not connected:** keep Rhino open on a new workshop document and ask the tutor to check the connection. A script written to disk or a file made by a standalone library is not a live Rhino operation.
- **Limit or account message:** save the message and ask the tutor about pairing or demonstration. Do not switch to a paid API or claim a different model produced the work.

These instructions configure the workshop folder only. No command-line installation is required by this pack.
